Default RE: Getting Back into R/C (Electric mostly, but also nitro)

Well I did it. I bought another electric vehicle: the Traxxas Rustler VXL. I looked at the brushless system it has and it can support 11.1v!!! And yes, I damn well tried it out as soon as I bought it. I am extremely in love with the Rustler VXL. The body definitely looks better than its yesteryear counterpart that I remember and it handles beautifully. Now I cannot get enough and I wanna buy another electric Off-road and On-road (to help replace my HPI Pro 4 should it explode).

It definitely feels good to be back in the hobby again. I have a smile from ear to ear!

Now, all I need now is to buy a few LiPo batteries. I purchased the Thuner Power 610c and tried it on the 11.1v and you are right Druss, it works beautifully and balances very very well. The instructions that came with it were very detailed. I have added it to my charger collection. So now I have a 610C, Triton, and ICE. And yes, I actually use them all. I use the Triton for my Pb batteries, ICE for my NiMH, and 610C for LiPo.

I also bought these Duratrax connectors (I think they are also called VXL leads????? Anyone verify??). From what I have read and heard at the LHS, these connectors are exectly like Deans and are bulkier and more durable. I looked at the bulk sets I bought from the store and saw that they might be right. It works a lot like Deans in several respects.

I also bought some Nitro fuel for my Sportwerks Mayhem buggy (you can guess how long it has been since that buggy came out! LOL!). I figured why not, might as well fire up the buggy as well and have some fun with it.

Now, while I was at the store, I also noticed that there were no more Yokomo cars. Did Yokomo go out of business? If so, I am quite sad. They were great cars, both electric and gas. I also saw that they had some TT-01s XB (Expert Built) and a TA-05MS TRF. I was extremely tempted to buy it, but when the store manager warned me about getting parts, I immediately put it down. I was shocked he hindered me from buying it. I wanted to get a TT-01, but he said that they stopped doing the Tamiya Races at Hobbyworks about 3 years ago. That also made me very sad.

And finally, I had a few questions:

1.) Are Yokomo cars still around? Is Yokomo still around?

2.) Is the Sprint 2 Sport a good electric car from HPI? Again, opinions only.

3.) What do you guys think about the Team Losi electric car versus the Team Associated TC5? Again, only opinions please.

4.) Are there any other brands of electric cars that go beyond Losi, Team Associated, Xray, Tamiya, HPI, in terms of the 1/10 arena? Are they purchasable in the USA?

5.) Can LiPo packs work with brushed systems? Why not?

6.) What are some good LiPo packs that you guys would recommend? I know Team Orion is one pack that was suggested, but what else is out there?
