Default RE: GP GEE BEE

ORIGINAL: mrcasey69

I just posted a video on RCU of my Gee Bee running for the first time with the Saito 170R. Should be up shortly. Probably no flying for a while here as there is a foot of snow outside. With Saito 170, Robostruts and on board glow driver system with battery she came in at 14lbs 12 oz. Blueprint for disaster I know. Regardless, I had to put this plane and engine together.

I Hope that you don't mind me posting a direct link to your video. That is an awesome sounding engine! I love the idle and full throttle sounds and everything in between! Throttle response is great too. I can't wait to see and hear your GB in the air. With a heavy bird like yours, I'd probably fly without the pants at first. When the Robart struts bottom out, the pants will contact the ground and most likely shred the pants and cause a hard nose-over.

Here is a link to my telescoping pants thread for the GB and Robart struts that you might want to consider for flying with the pants on.

I've been working with Cougar trying to develop an easier method for making the sheath for the pants. Cougar tried my fiberglass suggestion and a variation on my metal sheath method that may benefit you if you decide to make telescoping struts.
