Rabbit is Open
The status of the lakebed is that it is suitable for jet flying and test flying. I flew 6 flights with the Velox out there this morning. The surface is damp but firm, smooth and suitable for jet tires.
The eastern half of the lakebed is under water. The highway entrance and road by the fence are under water. The RW Ranch road is blocked with concrete barriers for road construction. The only way in is via the pipeline road and it is in good shape.
We're flying in our alternate area which is to the left as you enter the lakebed from the pipeline road. If you line up along the western shore there, you can get as much as 1500 to 2000 feet of lakebed for a runway and still have 300 to 800 feet open in front of you.
The wind can and does blow the water around on the lakebed. Enough sometimes that you can watch it move. However, the western shore flight area area appears to be far enough away from the water and mud to be very comfortable.
