RE: P-38 Ziroli designed, built and aluminum plated by Metal-morphous
Jim that looks sweet,,,, I see you elected to do the booms in wood, very nice. I’m glad you posted the picture, I have to mount the radiators and cut the hole for the servo plate. I have seen the hole cut on the outside of the boom and I see you cut yours on the inside, that’s the way I am going to do mine. I don’t think it makes much difference but when its static displayed you won’t be able to see the servos as easy.
Thanks James, as you might already know I don’t fly my RC planes, well not yet anyway. But this one is for me. To date there is only 1 out of 23 planes that have been morphed that have been in the air and that’s Ron Long’s F-86 pictured below. There will be at least one more this year and that’s Joes C’s F-100 and both have been BANNED from certain competitions, I guess our process is too good. Joe would have been in the air already but it had a slight accident in the hanger of all places. Joe shipped the damaged parts to me before X-Mass and we repaired them and he should have them next week. The repairs of our metal process are free in our attempts to entice the owners to fly them. It seems most of the time they look so nice the owner have been electing to keep them on the ground. In my case I built the Jug for my son in law and once finished he too did not want to fly it so I was going to have Joe A. do the honors and just before it was to be maiden Ron Long called and wanted to purchase it. Well long story short, Ron had to back out of the sale this year so I now have the yellow P-47, a Northrop gamma and soon to be Z P-38 in my hanger. The Jug is slated for it first flight in the spring and you will be seeing a lot of the Z-P38 when it’s finished both in static display and in the air. I have some interesting plans for this Lightning.
