Thanks, Av8tor. I will probably cut it off outside for the time being and keep the internal cut as a backup plan. I am going to use a small cutoff wheel and go slow, there is no way I will get it hot enough to hurt the seal unless I am completely incompetent. There, that should guarantee Murphy tries to come calling.
