63 FZ Idle problems?
Hi dave,
Tried out your advise today, found with a tacho mounted on the nose I couldnt get a steady tickover at all set it at 2500 opened her up full then down to tickover only to find it stoped at anywhere between 2500 to 2800 then proceed'ed to drop slowly down to 1700 where it usually cut. Tried turning the regulator out 1/4 tun at a time but no difference. Set the reg back to approx flush rechecked the high end needle then proceeded to turn out the low end needle in order to make it sound hard and make the transition struggle then I would know it was to lean. The low end needle is now nearly three turns out and at last it will hold a tickover at 2200-2300 for ten mins then transition to full with hardly a splutter it will start with a back flip against compression off the spinner.. great it sounds to good to be true, and it is. It still it refuses to tickover even at 2400 at any attitude if I hold the aircraft nose up it still leans and dies nose down she goes very rich and dies.
Question? should I still now try to adjust the reg' out to cure the problem.
Many thanks
