Hey, I used to use the metal gear. You just use the lock nut and sand it in half or any nut (that fits) in half so you can fit the spring, slipper clutch and drive cups all on the rod. With the original nut you wont be able to fit it as you wont have enough room to slide in the pin for the slipper. If you need help I wil post pics of what I am talking about.
