You make it sounds as though the engine has never been run "The piston and sleeve have no scores"

The crankcase must be sealed air tight so make sure there are gaskets or the area is sealed.

The gasket was probably removed from under the cylinder to get more compression? Reseal it the way it was. The card stock will be OK though
