So it sounds like a lipo should be balanced every time, and I should be balancing my two cell?
If it has a balance plug, it would be a good idea. Is it just a receiver battery? If so you may get away with regular charging at the field but balance it when charging at home. It won't get nearly as depleted or take the same abuse as a lipo driving a motor to power the plane.
