would gearing down a higher kv motor be the same as a lower kv motor? this is my agenda- should i run less cells on a higher kv motor (2300vs 1600) but gear down, or run the lower kv motor, volt up, but have to gear up as well. would the 2300kv motor REALLY pull that much more than the 1600kv as far as amps and heat are concerned?
They should be almost exactly the same. The low voltage, high amp version might generate a little more heat since I^2R will be higher, but others have argued that other losses from high voltage, low amps pretty much balance it out.
Remember that Kv says nothing about power!
