From looking at pics of the G20 it looks like the jug is bolted to the crankcase with 4 bolts....So my question is this: can the cylinder/jug be rotated 180deg so that the carb and exhaust are on the other side?
Yes it can.

The manual states you can rotate the cylinder, but you also need to rotate the piston.
