True, BUT: there were many more ribs in the full scale, thus the spacing between them was signicantly different. I'm thinking one would have to triple the number of ribs to get even CLOSE to looking like the full scale, better off just sheeting it and using artistic talent to duplicate the fabric covered rib effect.
BTW, I am currently re-building my Top Flite Corsair wing, using foam core outer wings. I have applied 1/16" square spruce strips (instead of balsa sheeting) at the right places to duplicate the ribs on the full scale. I will be posting pics in the 'Top Flite Corsair Mods' this coming weekend.
