I'm not sure why you asked the question. Why would/should you care how/why someone spends their money?
I just bought an A-10 that I'll probably around $15K in before it flies.
You may question my sanity for buying it, but it's my money, I earned it and can spend it any way I want without having to justify it to anyone.

I agree with Jon here. I'ts a hobby! If you have the cash, why not? Granted, for the time that A-10 flies, it will have costed as much as a used Aeronca or a 152, so what? Jon is not after a 152...I was into photography as a teen, and that's where all my money went at that ime:-) Just because some have more money to spend in a hobby than others, does not make it different.
Besides, if Jon (sorry, I use you as an example here) would be into boating, I am sure he would spend much more cash!
My motto? Enjoy life, it does not last forever!
