That will work for spinner cones that screw into the back plate, but for aluminum spinners (like Tru Turn) that screw into a special prop nut, you need to run the balancing rod through it, like that RC Groups post shows.
Just to "chim in"...I have many tru-turn spinners and I have not had to balance any of them. Just from my experience with tru-turn, they come extremely well balanced. Sorry, I know this is off topic. BTW, nice thread/link on the spinner balance.
