that seems dumb why would you only lock the front. would their be a way to rewire that so you can lock just the rear?
I agree that in a 1:1 vehicle that you would want the rear locked if you can only do one (for steering reasons), but in an RC, its makes a lot more sense to lock only the front if you are just going to lock one. Think about it, when you are climbing, which tires have more weight on them? The rear, so they already have more traction, the fronts are light, so will unload long before the rears, but more importantly, when you are climbing something really steep, if you have the rear locked the back tires can easily climb under the truck and cause it to roll over backward. But if you have only the front locked, then the rear can unload one tire or the other while the front tires pull you up the hill.... Basically, its the next best thing to a rear dig (where you have the rear driveshaft disconnected, so only the front tires have power)

Why would you want to lock only the rear? Front wheels are the ones that turn to steer, so if they are locked it doesn't hurt the turning too much. But if you're going to lock the rear, you might as well also lock the front.
actually locking the front has a WAY bigger impact on turning radius than locking the rear....
