Default Ailron differential

I know there was a thread in here about setting on mechanical differential for Ailrons. is it different from a shoulder wing to a low wing? I think I remember it correctly, for a left bank,,the right ailron has LESS deflection down compared to the left ailrons deflection up? Basically it takes more deflection to lower a wing that to make it rise?? and is there any advantage to using differntial in a pylon plane or just go equal throws. Also..I remember someone years ago saying to add a slight amount of "flap" to the plane to keep it from creeping into the pylon when on a knife edge..something about small amounts of flap cause the nose to drop?
Now that I have just confused myself[&o]
