I offer the following in the spirit of helpfullness, not criticism, so bear with me: A local flyer who used MDS engines nicknamed them "Mostly Dead Sticks" because of the MANY problems encountered with carb problems. Replace the carb or bench run it and keep an eye out for issues such as erratic needle settings, etc. I had similar problems with an engine called an "Aviastar" and finally made it a good engine with a carb off another engine design (Irvine 150, I think.)
So, before you buy an airplane for that engine, run the engine on a bench, alot, beforehand. Learn its' character first.
