I use thumbs but I wish I would learn how to pinch the sticks and use a tray. I'm convinced this is a more precise way to fly.

Obviously what you need to do is get a tray and start with your simplest/cheapest airplane and go for it. When I did it about 6 years ago, it actually wasn't a bad transition. It probably took me about 15 or 20 flights on the basic airplane before I moved up and started flying more complex stuff with it...
