RE: COMP ARF 110" F4U ARF WITH FOLDING WING ASSEMBLY
Excellent work, Sam. Congratulations on your stunning project.
I have one question, though: are adjacent straight cuts in the composite fuse problematic? Take your rectangular service panel hatch, for example. I had always heard that if cutting into composite, you need to keep the "corners" rounded, otherwise the composite material loses strength and the cuts will "creep" with flex and vibration.
I have made repairs to several comp-ARF aerobatics planes (landing gear tear-outs and cracked rudders) and I have always been very careful to cut repair patches with rounded corners. Maybe my understanding was way off the mark. Honestly, I cannot even remember where I got that information. But, it sounded reasonable at the time so I have always believed it to be true.
Thanks.
Keep up the great work.
