Funny, there are also the tell tale screwdriver marks on the red tank in front of the absent lugs (!), so it is as concluded a modified backplate...
Maybe that could be the tank from another PeeWee.. [sm=sleeping.gif]
I've wracked my brain thinking of a sensible reason to do this to a PeeWee, and can't come up with one other than world record speed attempts. So I'd put my nickel on modified too.. not like I really thought there was any question.
Forget the studs, just JB Weld it to the firewall. That way backplate leaks won't matter so much!
