I fast charge all my packs and they all live just fine.
A cycler won't necessarily solve the problem. I lost my Sig Somthin' Extra last month due to a battery failure. It had been freshly cycled the night before, and everything indicated it was just fine. Got to the flying site, did my range check, still o.k. Fired it up, taxied out, did my take off run into a nice 90 vertical...then no control at all (yes the pack was still plugged in after the wreck). The plane went up and over in a nice arch about 200 feet high(fortunately I hadn't given full throttle!!), and came straight down. Everybody thought it was just a spectacular take off stunt...until I didn't pull out.
