RE: Another MaxCat built but only 48"
After another short interruption (road trip) I countinued with adding the strakes and running pads to the sponsons. I soften the poplar wood pads in steam to pre-form the curves, as you can see in the picture. That helped a lot with glueing the pads on to the bottom. You wouldn't be able to bend the tight curve otherwise. I also tapered the front pads on my belt sander before I glue it on. I used white wood glue for this job. It's stronger than epoxy. Next step are the fillets in all inside corners. This will be done with epoxy filled with microbaloon and a dash of milled fibers. Next set of pictures to follow soon (I hope).
