Default Flex Header Repair

Hello,

Have a new used plane (almost new) and this is my first experience with canisters and headers.
The MTW 110 cansiters are mounted to a DA-150 with flex headers. One of the headers developed a leak in the flex section that was wrapped in teflon tape.
These are installed on a Comp-ARF 3m Extra 260. (See attached pics.)

What, if any, is the recommended repair and/or appropriate material to fix this????
What is the purpose of the teflon tape wrapped on the flex secton?????
Is the teflon tape standard plumbing grade tape ???

Thank you,
Jaketab
