RE: Sig Rascal 110
I just got back after having a review with the club safety officer and the 2 primary instructors. They were all there at the field and saw what happened. We reached a concenses that the cause was pilot error. Well I knew that. We had a gusty wind blowing directly across the field. It was blowing from east to west. I was taking off towards the south. I failed to hold the left wing down and as the plane left the ground a strong gust got under the left wing rolling her up on the right wing tip and turning her directly down wind. At that point I had near 0 airspeed with the wind at my tail and lost all lift and control. The rest is history. To add salt to the wound the wind sock pole was directly in my flight path and that is what did the most damage.
