Basically, here's the way they're stacked...
Pinion > Fused gear (teeth for pinion on one side fused to step up gear on other) > Fused gear #2 (teeth for the step up gear on one side fused to teeth for the axle gear on the other [pictured]) > Axle Gear (single gear transferring power directly to the axle [pictured])
This thing isn't in any fear of falling apart gear wise.
