Don't think rubber band power is without it's own set of hazards. I once converted a .40 size plane to rubber power that I wound with an electric drill attached to the spinner before each flight. As I was carrying it to the runway one day the wingtip slipped out of my hand and the plane started spinning while I was holding onto the prop. The wingtips slapped me in the jaw 1100 times before I got it under control.
