Standing in a field, peering up at the sky with a small box in your hand is already pretty "nerdy". I wouldn't worry that a small pilot figure is going to make you any more of a "nerd". You're already maxed out on the "nerd" scale anway.
If this is how you perceive yourself, I suggest you take up Gun Shootin', Bull Riddin'; or, jumping from perfectly good airplanes! These are the man type, cool sports, that none of us "Model Flying Nerds" would ever dream of doing.
