Actually, that isn't quite true. There is plenty of play in the engine alignment in order to get things out of whack. If the engine is not aligned properly, the clutch shoe to clutch liner interface will rob power and cause accelerated wear on the clutch liner.
In fact, K & S sells an engine alignment tool for the Venture; part number 1263. Not that this tool is required to get it right, but believe me, there is movement other than just up and down on the Venture.
