That nozzle can be built to actually help pull the exhaust gasses out of the engine and at the same time increase thrust if designed properly with a built in apex. Kind of like the old Sophia turbines. If you keep working at it you will find the critical size at certain rpm and will have to settle for what works best for the entire range on that engine.
