Mine looks just like Campgems' setup. What looks like an 'extension' is really just the exhaust port on the muffler. It is totally fine to swing the muffler forward a few degrees which would result in some downward clearance. The muffler pipes not being perfectly orthogonal to the airframe is hardly noticeable, especially with the cowl on.
