I've got one of those Cermark Yaks with an MLD-28 and it is excellent. One of the best deals out there in my opinion.
I've also got the GP 27% Extra-330 with an RCGF 50cc (sort of a DA-50 wannabe engine) bolted on the nose. Hoping to maiden it on Saturday. A nice 50cc engine seems to be popular for that plane. A good 40cc-45cc would fly it good. I've got a GP 25% Sukhoi which is just slightly smaller than the Extra with a Fuji-43 and it flys excellent.
All that being said, none of the planes I mentioned above are good for someone just starting out. If you try to start out with one of them or something similar you'd better have a lot of trash bags for the wreckage and a fat bank account to keep buying more. If you really wanted to start out with gas, maybe something like this?
