Default RE: Who's right or wrong?

I'm not picking on ya, but all I remember about nascar is it's alot of paint swapping going on in 250-500 laps. Now SCCA, those guys have alot to lose, most only own 1 car and can't afford a mishap.
Some of the best NASCAR racers are also sports car or Indy racers at some point in time. Many of the same guys can drive open wheel racers without mishap. This going back to the early days, Dan Gurney comes to mind. Much of the banging is on purpose, but also because to win the high speed tracks they must draft very close. With Indy cars they are so sleek they don't draft well. These guys are actually very good driving cars that don't handle as well as an SCCA race, but when you draft inches from the bumper they will rear end by accident, usually without crashing, but sometimes they lift the rear wheels up from the car in front which causes it to spin out. You might be surprised to learn that even some drag racers can do well at other venues. In fact many of them improve their skills by dirt racing.
