I have to say overall there is a weak spot in the boom build that has been around since conception - weather or not you have an issue with it will depend on how you build the bird.
There are several ways to build this plane and if you choose to build the removable turbocharger / wing cover not to plans you will have this weak spot.
That’s the point!
If you build according to the plans the failure will not happen.
If you choose to change the design you have to live with it!
The best fix is a torque rod, connecting a 1/8” piano wire from the fire wall to the end of the turbo charger opening. A half inch hardwood anchor does the job. On one end a T or just a 90 bent and the other end a bold – later on you can adjust the tension.
BTW: The Ziroli P-38 in this configuration is around since 1982…this by its self shows how good they are.
