Thanks for your efforts to explain what some of us thought were loss of features (including me). A little time reading the manual (RTM and its more popular RTFM brother ) would have educated me on how to search headers. I do think the new search capabilities are better than before, however, the presentation of the soultion is what's going to challenge most - in my opinion.

Similar to what Gutaaaooo suggested earlier, the old style of search presented you with all the options up front, sort of "spoon-fed" you what it needed to work. This was nice for the casual user because they could use with little knowledge of "how" to use the option to begin with. The new search feature is more of an "expert" search mode where you have to understand switches, command line paramaters, etc. in order to condition the search. You might want to consider a search FAQ and add it to the search help or make it a sticky as I believe the same questions are going to be asked over and over...

As for stemming - put me down for exact matches and allow wildcards.
