I side with ya Scionracer, Im new to the whole nitro rc world all together and this is my first truck and first let me say it is a nice truck...

the really only problem I have had so far is the tranny gear(1st gear to be exact) has stripped out on me, so I took it out and opened the tranny and also found that the same gear had started to melt to the casing, after pondering with it I figured out why it did that, I'm not an engineer so I don't know how to perminantly fix it. The plastic gear was riding on the casing, now there is a bearing where the shaft comes in(not the problem) and then there is the one way bearing that fits in the gear(engenius design, not the problem), what the problem is is that there is no spacer between the two bearings allowing the gear to slide right up to the casing allowing it to rub together(the problem) just like two metal gears with no lube, friction, the enemy of one moving part to a stationary part, It builds heat and with plastic, it don't take long. If they could have designed a spacer between the two bearings to keep the gear from riding on the casing, it might have lasted longer then a quart of nitro. Now I am assuming it stripped because the gear was melting to the casing and causing it to stop when the main drive gear in there wanted to keep going, I dunno,

hears what I did to fix it, its still early to really tell though.
well, luckly I had two spare gear packs I just bought. I took a small enough fender washer I had laying around that was just big enough to fit over the shaft the two gears are on, then I used my dremel to sand the edge of the washer down to where it just bearly fits inside the opening in the gear so it would fit up against the one way bearing and not the the face of the gear, that way it would be between both bearings. Everything still turned freely and in my mind I could visualize that gear not rubbing on the casing.
its a cheezy mod but if that tranny last me longer then a gallon then I say it helped.. LOL
p.s. just for kicks I sprayed some teflon lub on the gears in hopes to lessen any friction, keep ya updated on that.
