However, anyone who flies a model airplane, in a field which is not sanctioned by the AMA, must realize they are in the wrong to begin with and should not be there. Anything after that is totally their fault and responsibility.

AMA does not in any manner "sanction", approve, authorize, or recognize a flying site. There is no such thing as an AMA sanctioned flying site. AMA charters club and sanctions events. AMA will, if requested by a club, issue a certificate of additional insurance to the entity that owns the land that a club has their field on.
That said, all AMA requires of a member is that they have permission from the land owner or their authorized agent to fly at the place they are flying. Glacier Girl and the group he flies with appear to meet that condition.
I keep saying that in this particular incident Glacier Girl did everything right and the heli pilot did nothing wrong. Beyond that, I feel that as model pilots we need to take on the responsibility of insuring that we steer clear of full size to whatever extent we can.
