Ok, let me get this straight. Are you talking about putting cheap batteries on the radio or on the aircraft?

Of course it is a little more forgiving to put them in the radio, as most radios would have a battery monitor that would let you know when your battery is getting low. Just remember that store bought batteries are rated at 1.5 volts per cell. When you pack 8 cells in a radio, you are giving that radio 12 volts. If the radio was designed for rechargeable cells (1.2 v per cell) the radio was expecting 9.6 volts. And anybody can see that could be a major problem. If your radio is not getting warm, I don't see a problem. Just let me know when you would be flying at the same field as I am.

If you are doing that with the batteries on the aircraft, the same thing happens. You are feeding 6 volts to a system that is expecting 4.8 volts. Also, let me know if you will be doing this at a field where I'm present, so I can take cover.

I do. Is there a risk? Who out there use cheap batteries? And do you enjoy it?
He's definitely trolling. Who in their right mind, would ask those 3 questions in a row? It seems like he would be worried about risk, then he gloats about using cheap batteries.

Are you worried? Or are you gloating?
