Default RE: My ST G2300 conversion

I am using an OS "F" plug which as you probably know is a 4 stroke plug. I haven't tried it with a spark plug beause it runs very well as is on glow fuel with the wt499, and the cost of conversion is an unnecessary cost. But I do agree that with an ignition system and spark plug the 2300 would run fine on glow fuel.

It probably would also run fine on gasoline but I wonder if the wt499 would tune as easily when running gasoline. I also would expect to have problems with lubrication in the 2300 unless you modify the design to replace some of the bushings in the 2300 with bearings, and you would need to find the right oil type and percentage to add to the gasoline so it doesn't overheat and damage the 2300.

Perhaps Ken Lambert and others would like to comment here about running the 2300 on gasoline. But as for me I think the cost of conversion to gasoline is too high, unless you intend to fly the converted 2300 a LOT! this is because you would have to change to an ingition system and get the bearings modified and mess with the lubrication, etc. Seems like a lot of hassle and cost to me.

The only reason I tried the wt499 is I have been flying a World models 81 inch mustang with a 2300 and it flies very well with this engine. the 2300 is lighter than many gas engines and it turns a 17-8 scimitar prop real well, and flies the mustang as fast as I can handle - probably over 100 mph, although I haven't radared it. But the 2300 runs best on its side with its regular carb so when RCIgnition said the wt499 would handle glow fuel without modification I figured this would let me run the 2300 inverted and thus put the 2300 fully in the mustang cowl. So far it looks like this would work fine. So i plan to mount the 2300 in the mustang, but I haven't gotten that done yet.
