I started a thread in the radio section and after some replies I'm considering sending in my Eclipse for repair. I read the sticky on sending in equipment for repairs and also looked on Hitec's website. However, I did not see anything about payment for the repair. I'm not asking for an estimate but when do I get the estimate or bill for the repairs?
If the repair is high I may just get another radio instead of fixing this one.
Here is what I posted in the other thread.
I've been flying with a Hitec Eclipse 7 that I bought new about six or seven years ago. Well, I noticed today there is a problem with channel six.
I use channel one and six for ailerons in any of my planes that have two wing servos. Well today Inoticed one servo would not move all the way up. I would move then jump, drop and jump back up. When I put the stick back to center it would do a real quick up and down movement.
Well, I thought the servo was bad and figured I would just replace it with one that I have at home. But the tinkering side of my brain said to look into it more. So I swapped the wires, switching channels one and six, to see if it was the servo. Needless to say now the problem went to the other side. I went a little further and switched to another plane and tried it again. Again, the same results on both sides of the plane. So, the radio is going.
Now the question; do I send it in for repair or buy a new one? And if I do get a new one, which model would be good? I started off flying Futaba but switched to Hitec because I got a good deal on the radio.
Ilooked at the price for a 2.4 system, not too bad. However, $100 for a receiver is a bit. If I got a receiver with the radio I would still need to buy six to replace the ones in my other planes.
