It sometimes seems like its a few planes trying to kill each other....

The normall R/C combat is 3 to 10 planes dragging crepe paper streamers, trying to cut each other's streamer off. (the rules are a bit more complex... but that's the basics.)

Mid-air collisions happen fairly often with some combat competitors. If you aim for the plane... you hit the plane. (some people advocate aiming for the plane to hit the streamer...) Its rare for powerd planes having a mid-air to not have one, or both severely damaged.

There is a form of combat for GLIDERS where styrofoam ( a special type...) planes try to bounce off of each other. This type competition with power planes is inadviseable at best. (stupid really.) The foam gliders tend to bounce, not break.
