We just used the rod.  We don't use the braces that come with it, just standard nuts to save weight, and also we used the small horns.  They have to be drilled out.  </p>

Mine is 8-32 and then the horns are what look to be aileron horns from an older torque rod aileron setup.  The rod is right at the back of the bevel in this setup.  Works great.</p>
