Here are a few pics of my install.

Iused 6-32 threaded steel rod and dubro aileron horns. bore the hole as close as you can so the hole in the horn is as close as you can get. We are using 1/2 dowel as a hard point. If your all concerned about getting the hole over thehingeline you can always bend the rod

Another tip is to drill and install the exit guilds after your glass - you won't get a bump orbulge. You will also get a cleaner exit. I've been using DEPS scraps for the exit tubes.
