Everyone here has hit the nail on the head, in one way or another. But, with the info given, and not witnessing the anomoly personally, with your plane, the "nose heavy" diagnosis must be correct. A nose heavy plane will often over-flare. Since you have stated the "dead-stick" scenario as inaffective, there leaves no other remedy than to lighten the nose.
