Alot of folks just keep it idle and choke closed with ignition on. Motor starts then dies due to choke. Then open choke and restart.
This is the way Ido it on all engines and it works every time. The only thing to watch out for is if it goes past the "I'm ready to start"point while choking without firing. If this happens you can get too much fuel in the cylinder and flood it. But if the carb's low side is adjusted properly, or even close, this never happens.
If you have to flip the prop more than about 20 times starting with a completely dry engine then there is something wrong.
