Well does anyone have a link to a forum to a bolt on wing mod for any trainer? I have to order #67 rubber bands online and they are very annoying.
I can walk you through it since I built the kit many years ago and converted the wing to bolt on. However, since you have the plane allready built I wouldn't bother with it. Unless you don't mind cutting away the covering and front sheeting of the underside of the wing and removing the allready installed dowels for the blubber bands.
The ARFs wing front is IMO under engineered. I would rather see two 1/4" dowels holding the front part of the wing in insted of just the center doubled up ribs in a notch. I have a bad feeling that's not only a weak point but having only one contact point up front may allow some left and right, back andforth action on the leading edge of the wing within the saddle. With a plane this size, weight and wing loading, I think the ARF's design is bad in regards to the frontal area of the bolt on wing set up. (Sorry Sig)
I may go in and tear the wing up and fix the front end if I don't finish the 4*60 first. If you wanna go ahead and do yours, Ill do mine and include photos. The rear is super easy.
Im also running a .52 4 stroke which should use a larger prop over a 2-stroke due to having more torque. The 11x7 MAS seems a little small and I want to use at least a 12x5 but due the low ground clearance and really springy landing gear, every semi hard landing will chip the 11x7 prop. I ordered some new landing gear that will be here today and is taller, I hope to change that.
