Beats me??? Moneys too short to be starting anything I really want to build but Iwas kicking around the shop looking, you know, that sort of lost type of looking. Then I looked up instead of shuffling my feet around the balsa dust.
There on the wall was a very old Bipe I used to fly in IMAA events, had an OS 1.20 pumper in it and it was really under powered so I had pulled the radio gear and engine a couple of years ago. Ialso sent a set of plans for this plane to my building buddy in NY and he was getting close to finishing his so it got me to thinking. Itold him to install at least a 40cc gasser in his.
What the heck, practice what I preach!! Ipulled it down and hosed it off then started measuring, Ijust happened to have an almost new Brison 2.4 40cc gasser under the bench. Not a great fit but it did fit!! Just took a little cowl cutting, OK, more like a lot of cutting but I got it to work.
Ialso found a lot of room for improvement in the way Ihad the servos and controls set up so I did all of that over too. Ibuilt this one a long time ago and have learned a lot sense then.
The plane is a 68 inch Boeing F4B-2 that was designed by John Tanzer. It used to fly pretty good, now I have to get a good maiden day to see how well it will fly with some power under the hood!!
What now??? I'm out of almost everything in the way of gear.
