I've always heard of aftermarket springs causing damage to the radio (any radio). You can crank the tension up pretty good on the stock springs, but I know the Radio South springs are a lot stiffer. The reports that I've always heard have involved the little tabs that the springs hook to breaking since they are plastic, but nothing involving the steel pin. Check any plastic around the pins to see if there is damage, if not, it may be a good idea to send the radio in.
