Adding to some have said about the people....i think being able to meet up with members at the field to fly and bs is half of it. Its a great part of the hobby. A day of 3 flights and great people is more fun to me than 10 flights...alone!
I totally agree. I've been going to a small local airfield to fly lately, and I get in 4-6 flights in a 1hr period, but I'm usually the only one there. I enjoy it, but it's not as fun as going to one of my larger clubs and BSing with guys between flights. I probably don't get in as many flights there, but I have much more fun.
