US40+ copy is pretty nice
I usually won't support a chinese copied product but I once had a US 40+ that I loved and have been without one for a few years now and planned to build another but I never seem to have the time and already have two kits sitting waiting to be built. Then I saw the US 40+ copy from fleaBay in another thread, Thought long and hard and decided to take a chance and see how close they came to the US 40+ When I opened the box and started unpacking it i was extreamly impressed with the quality exspecially for the price I got it for.It is definately NOT a US 40+ but pretty close copy when together with a few small differences, like the US40+ has a notch in the front of the wing with 2 1/4 inch dowels and this one has the ply tabs sticking out of the first rib. But lining everything up to the US40+ plans (I still have all the stuff from my kit) the wing size, tail fins and fuse are all exactly the same size. This plane comes with no manual or company name so CG was going to have to be figured out but since it's so close to the US40+ I'll use the CG from the plans. (YES its that close. As for the covering, Not sure what kind of china coat they use but it looks and feel just like mono coat without so much as a wrinckle anyware on the plane and all the covering lines match up perfectly, The matallic purple looks real nice in person (pics do it no justice) and the plane is pretty light and the glue joints all seem well done, I am going to add some epoxie in a few critical areas to be on the safe side. I will be taking pics when I assemble and give a build review. I got it $51 with $27 for shipping so the ARF that looks better the a few of the big name brands I've purchased cost me $78 dollars and will make a nice beater plane. Well the assembly won't happen for a week or two as I don't really have too much spare time as of late but I'll be posting any issues and good points I come across. Here are a few pics of the dry assembly taken with my Iphone so the quality of pics isn't great but decent enough. OH Ithere is also a belly pan not in the pics.
