I generally start out with an APC. Spending time prop testing, once you get to flying well enough that you can tell the difference, is very rewarding. I've been surprised at what works the best sometimes. I've transfered engine, fueltank, and prop to another airplane and found that the
This is so true.
Jim (jayseas), if you think you are going to get around in life with just one brand, style or size prop for a particular size engine you might as well face facts. It ain't going to happen.
When it comes to the best prop, plane, engine and even radios, what works best for you is the right choice. It is sort of like asking what is the best car to buy, or what is the best rod and reel combo or what is the best golf clubs.
When it comes to props, it is good to have a choice if for no other reason than to have spares. It is almost silly to go out flying with only one prop anyway. Ask anyone who has broken or cracked a prop. You don't want to end your flying session with something so trifle.
Besides, many times we wind up using a spare prop that we otherwise would never have tried only to find that was the one we should have been using all the time.
